The last two weeks have been so much fun! We have so enjoyed giving away items from our showhouse designers!
We couldn’t end this series without giving a big, big thank you to the generous folks and shops who kindly donated the items for the contest.
So, without further adieu, we conclude the contest with two amazing prizes.
The first one is a certificate for a Sommelier’s Selection massage, compliments of the dreamy 29 Spa at The Mansion on Peachtree, A Rosewood Hotel & Residence. (The Mansion was host to our recent Christmas House.) The winner is Carol Daniel of Atlanta!
The second prize is a certificate for a one-night stay at The Mansion on Peachtree, which will include valet parking. The winner is Michael Kleeman of Atlanta! Con
Last night I went along to a master class in lighting at the John Cullen showroom on King’s Road, the first of four events taking place over the spring/summer. With important but drastic new energy efficient lighting regulations in place, using the right lighting products in residential projects has never been more important, and John Cullen has the solutions. After a series of detailed demonstrations and inspiring presentations led by the team of experts, I emerged full to the brim with knowledge and ideas, though feeling we only scratched the surface of their expertise.
First off, Sian Parsons, senior designer, and Luke Thomas, lighting designer, took small groups around the specially kitted-out showroom.
Ecobuild, the world’s biggest event for sustainable design, construction and the built environment, is once again opening its doors to those looking for eco ideas and products. With nearly 1,000 exhibitors, more than 41,000 attendees and over 100 seminars, last year’s Ecobuild was a roaring success and has become one of the biggest events of its kind, even having to change venues this year to allow for its growing popularity. This year’s Ecobuild is being held at London’s ExCel and will take place Tuesday 01 March – Thursday 03 March.
Ecobuild Fringe is just one of the highlights at this year’s show. Fringe brings together a variety of events from exhibitors, supporters and partners, all of which take place during Ecobuild 2011.
Digital artist, Cory Arcangel is best known for his reworkings of obsolete computer systems of the 1970s and 1980s. From 10 February to 22 May, Arcangel will be exhibiting his latest bowling based creation, Beat The Champ at The Barbican Gallery, London.
One of Arcangel’s most famous pieces is Super Mario Clouds, which he created in 2002. Archangel hacked into a Nintendo Super Mario games cartridge and erased all the familiar features except the endless scrolling clouds. This idea of ‘reworking’ appears in much of Arcangel’s work. I Shot Andy Warhol, also 2002, features well-known public figures such as the Pope, Andy Warhol and Colonel Saunders as shooting targets in 1980′s arcade game, Hogan’s Alley.
